Matilda is becoming a consistently high achieving artist. A particular strength is her determination to produce original work rather than relying heavily on secondary source material - because of this her output feels confidently conceptual.
Though she has a natural tendency towards a contemporary aesthetic, during the A-level course she rediscovered and refined her abilities in the more traditional mediums of painting and sculpture. This has been particularly effective in her mixed media pieces which combine painting, photography and found textural elements. Matilda has a natural eye for good composition, which is clearly visible in her photographic work and her drawing. Matilda’s artist research is thorough and her written work is reflective and insightful. Matilda exhibited two pieces at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton, Surrey, 2019.
